  1. Eos Utility 2 10 4 For Macbook

Simon05 wrote: Hi All, I posted the following in the Canon forum and someone suggested me to ask for help here. Here is the orginal post: Hi All, I have the 2.10.4 Eos utility installed on a Mac 10.6.8. When I double click on the eu2.13.0x-updater.dmg file downloaded form Canon the extraction starts but then nothing happens. Is there something wrong in what I am doing? I have tried several times but without success.

EOS Utility is an application that brings together functions to communicate with the camera. These functions include downloading and displaying images, remote shooting, and camera control for each setting. The package software will install the following components: EOS Utility 2, EOS Utility 3, EOS Lens Registration Tool, EOS Web Service Registration Tool. Note that, when any model other than the ones mentioned above is connected to your Mac, EOS Utility will take over the connection process.

Found this on a google search - same issue. I'm on mac 10.6.8, Snow Leopard. I get the file downloaded from the internet caution window, then an 'extracting files' progress bar. Tried it first with just the updater for eos utilities, then the entire package for systems with no dvd drive. Pcr-50 driver for mac free. Same on both downloads. Don't get that with any other dmg files I've installed.

The canon site autodetected that I was on 10.6.8, and steered me to these files, but I wonder if they are only working in later osx releases? Dave Seeley wrote: OK. 10.6.8 is ok. It appears to have been a conflict with some other installed software (extension?). I logged out, and into another user (must have administration privileges) and tried the installer again.

This time the installation window comes up after the files decompress. And installs correctly. From within my user, the canon installer didn't work, even from my original canon solutions disk. That was my tip off. I have 5 Macs that I try to keep updated with Canon's software. 3 of the Macs update just fine and the other two behave just like yours does.

Canon changed something in their installer a while back (I don't remember exactly when), and that's when this issue came up for me. I've searched all over the Web and can't find any real solutions. One thing that's interesting: two of my machines are MacBook Pros and the newer one was 'made' by using Migration Assistant to migrate from the older machine. The new machine doesn't have the installer problem while the other does. BTW, I have the same behavior for EOS Utility but not for any of the other Canon utilities. I love consistency (sarcasm).

All I've been able to do so far is figure out what's NOT the problem. Things like Java, obvious extensions/additions, Little Snitch and Security settings and so on. None of these seem to be causing the problem. But always, logging into another admin account always enables the installer.

Just remember your experience and plan to log into that other account for future Canon updates.
